Greetings to all members of EQI! …
Welcome to the December 2023 edition of President’s Chatter.
Wow! Where has 2023 disappeared to?
December is the time to celebrate all things! Family, friends, Christmas, sunshine (well, hopefully!), cricket, holidays, great gardens, good food and, maybe finishing those quilts and projects begun at the beginning of the year.
It can be a busy time for some and a wind-down time for others.
EQI will celebrate our last Gathering for 2023 on Wednesday, December 20th at the Freemason’s Hall.
I am yet to have confirmation re the Evening “sit and sew” Christmas celebration will occur.
We have permission to decorate the hall on the Tuesday evening prior to our Gathering.
We would like help to do this, details to come.
Let’s make it a great activity and get as many members as we can to celebrate the year-end.
An email will follow with all the Christmas info including the food thing, the special activities thing etc.
Number one is the hand-made Christmas Tree Ornament challenge.
EQI is getting a Christmas tree!…and we need to decorate it!
Members have so many patchwork, quilting and embellishing skills, I can’t wait to see those decorations!
A gift certificate from G.J.’s will be going home to the best decoration winner.
I have been in contact with David from the Freemason’s and the new heating/cooling system is being installed as I write this President’s Chatter. The kitchen renovation will happen in 2024, dates are still uncertain.
Once again EQI has received a grant from Moonee Valley Council for certain activities in 2024. This is for $1500 and includes funding for Guest Speakers, Saturdays, and other activities as requested.
Other news:
As you all know by now, we still need members to come on the committee. Especially a Secretary (could be shared between 2 members). No Secretary, no EQI!…..it’s that simple. Also, we need 3 more ordinary committee members to share the jobs that have been done, this past year, (extremely well I think) by a too-small committee.
It’s time for members to step up and help their association have a future.
That’s all I am going to say, here, on this very important subject.
I stay positive and know these positions will be filled.
Back to Christmas! Please join in on Wednesday, the 20th.
If you are unable to attend I would like to, on behalf of the committee: Barb, Irene, Hiam, Robyn, Pinky, Marina, and, Glenda and Anita, to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Hoping to see you all in 2024
